How to use a Digital Kitchen Timer

Operating a digital kitchen timer will not require an advanced degree. You probably won’t even need to read the manual. That is because most digital kitchen timers have only a few buttons (not including the numbers). In fact, many of them have just two buttons: “start/stop” and “reset.”

You simply punch in the amount of time you need to complete your project, and press start. The minutes and seconds will then begin to tick away. When the timer reaches zero, your timer will start to alert you.

It is important to note that digital timers don’t have to stay in the kitchen. The digital timer options these days are portable, lightweight and many of them can fit in your pocket. This gives them a virtually infinite number of applications.

Many people use them during their workouts. They might want to know when their half hour of jogging has elapsed. Students who are preparing for the SATs commonly use digital kitchen timers to make sure that they are completing each section of the test in the allotted time.

College students also use them to take short breaks or naps between all night study sessions. Some senior citizens enjoy their easy use and large display screens to tell them when it is time to take their medication.

When shopping for a digital kitchen timer online, it is important to know the specific features you require. At the bare minimum, you should be looking for an affordable timer that has a large, easy to read display screen.

You might also look for the time limits. If you are defrosting a turkey, for example, you might need a timer that can be programmed for days instead of just hours. Be certain to purchase the required batteries beforehand because most digital kitchen timers will not include them. Do your homework before you make the purchase and you will find the one that suits you and your particular needs.
